Could you save money on our products? You don’t have to pay VAT on some of our products if you are disabled or have a long-term illness, and you, your spouse, or guardian are purchasing them for personal or domestic use.
What is VAT Relief and do you qualify?
VAT law states that you must be chronically sick, disabled or registered disabled to qualify for VAT relief.
If you are disabled or have a long-term illness, and you, your spouse, or guardian are purchasing them for personal or domestic use, you are exempt from paying VAT on some of our products.
In the eyes of the government, you have a long-term illness or you’re disabled if you meet any of the following conditions:
- you have a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon your ability to carry out everyday activities
- you have a condition that the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness, such as diabetes
- you are terminally ill
This means you don’t qualify if you are elderly but otherwise able-bodied, or if your only temporarily disabled or incapacitated for example a broken bone. In this situation you’ll just have to rely on our already-great prices.
Remember, the product(s) must be bought for personal or domestic use (by you, your spouse, or guardian), so you cannot claim VAT relief if you intend to use the products for business purposes or for general use by chronically sick or disabled people.
Which products are eligible?
Only products that are designed for use solely by disabled people qualify for VAT relief. You can identify eligible products on our website by the presence of a VAT inclusive and exclusive price. If only one price is shown, then the product is not eligible.
